What are the Stages of IVF Treatment?

Ovarian stimulation, Treatment of ovulation… IVF Treatment explains how in vitro fertilization works. In vitro fertilization (IVF) consists of reproducing, in a laboratory, fertilization and the start of embryonic development. We detail the different steps.

Step 1: ovarian stimulation

During each menstrual cycle, a woman’s ovaries release a fertilizable egg. During IVF, we will seek to produce more mature eggs, which will require stimulating the activity of the ovaries more strongly.

The patient must therefore follow treatment which can last more or less 15 days. She will take a medication which will be used to block her natural cycle to control ovulation and IVF Treatment Pakistan it at the right time.

At the same time, she will have to take a daily hormone that will help the development of follicles, which contain the acolytes, and therefore promote fertilization. The latter treatment is often administered in the form of injections. During this period, the patient is followed by an ultrasound check to carefully monitor the stimulation.

Step 2: Treatment

When the follicles are ready, that is to say, when we are sure that they are the right size (between 16 and 22 millimeters), the patient receives a final injection which will Treatment ovulation. The egg collection will then take place 32 to 38 hours later.

Step 3: Sampling

The collection of acolytes, or sampling, is done under local or general anesthesia two days after induction. The specialist will identify the follicles using an ultrasound and then, using a needle, he will aspirate them. This operation may require a short hospitalization for the patient, often in a day hospital.

Step 4: fertilization

On the same day of collection, the acolytes are entrusted to the biologist who will select those which are able to be fertilized. At the same time, the laboratory collects the semen sample, which was taken earlier. Each acolyte is then placed in the presence of mobile spermatozoa (between 50,000 and 100,000). They are then transferred to an incubator. Fertilization can be observed 20 hours later.

Step 5: embryo transfer

The embryos, obtained through fertilization, are then transferred into the patient’s uterus using a catheter. No need for anesthesia for this step. The patient lies in the gynecological position, receives the embryo, and then must wait around thirty minutes.

In IVF Cost in Pakistan, we recommend the transfer of a single embryo during the first attempt, but this can go up to 2. An exception of 3 embryos can take place in the event of repeated failures.

Stage 6: Pregnancy

When the embryo is transferred it will need to implant in the wall of the uterus to develop. For this he needs time. The patient will then have a blood test, 10 to 15 days after the transfer. She will then know if the embryo has attached well, and if she is pregnant. If this is the case, she will have an ultrasound 1 month after the transfer to confirm the pregnancy.

If the embryo has not been implanted, the patient’s period will start. She will then be able to discuss a future transfer with the specialists. If the IVF Center in Lahore did not work, it allowed doctors and biologists to know more about the reproductive functioning of the couple and to be able to adapt with even more precision for the next time.
